Message states
Where a message is, and what each status promises.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
queued | Safely stored and waiting to be sent. |
submitting | Being handed to the sending provider. |
scheduled | Waiting for its scheduled time. It can still be rescheduled or cancelled. |
accepted | The provider accepted it. This is not delivery. |
cancelled | Cancelled before it was sent. Nothing was delivered and its quota was given back. |
failed | The provider rejected it, or we could not send it. |
suppressed | Every recipient was on your suppression list. |
ambiguous | The provider did not confirm either way (for example a timeout). We never resend it automatically, so it is never delivered twice. |
Per-recipient status
After acceptance, each recipient moves to delivered, bounced or complained. A message with several recipients can have a different outcome for each.
Delivered means the recipient’s mail server accepted the message. It does not tell you whether it landed in the inbox or the spam folder.
Resolving ambiguous messages
These are rare. They appear in the dashboard and your account can resolve them by checking whether the message actually left. Contact support with the message id if you need help.
